Swains Lane, Highgate, London N6
A professional couple approached us to help them fully refurbish this Edwardian house, located close to Hampstead Heath and Highgate Cemetery. They had just bought the house, which had had little work done to it during several previous decades.
We proposed that the existing living space be converted to open plan and the addition of a new garden room, ideal for the family’s use.
An old lean-to conservatory was replaced with a new more robustly built extension with sliding folding doors which opened up the entire rear of the house so that the boundaries between inside and out are blurred thus bringing the garden into the house, and vice-versa.
