LONDON UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
Specialist Collection | Bloomsbury, London
Set within the heart of London's historic university district, this project reimagines a building housing a small specialist collection, creating a more accessible, welcoming and functional environment while respecting its architectural heritage.
The proposals focus on improving internal circulation, enhancing facilities and introducing inclusive access throughout the building. Carefully considered contemporary interventions and a sensitive palette of materials respond to the surrounding conservation context, balancing the character of the existing architecture with the needs of a modern institution.
Sustainability is central to the approach, with improvements to the building's environmental performance, energy efficiency and long-term adaptability. The result is a thoughtful transformation that preserves the building's historic identity while creating a more inclusive, efficient and sustainable home for the collection.
